WOW. It has been a WILD couple weeks, racing at breakneck speed to prepare Good Day Studios for our kick off party and spring season!
As I shared last week, the same day Marta, of Good Day Shop, and I met for our first official discussion about how we can bring our long-held mutual vision of creating a multi-use artist studio community space to Humboldt County, we were presented with the opportunity to take the first step, in renting a small formerly residential space right behind Marta’s shop to make it happen!
Since then, we’ve painted, fliered, had many conversations, cleaned, planned and done all the things that one must do in order to get a space ready for y’all to check out this Friday!
It’s been quite the experience, but IT’S HAPPENING—and we invite you to be part of it, as a resident artist and/or to join us on Feb. 27th for our fundraising kick off party!

For the spring season of Good Day Studios, Marta and I are seeking four other artists to share our work space with. Because we are working with a limited area, and will take what we learn from the next three months to improve the experience, we are looking for folks who are excited to be part of this vision, and who are flexible, reasonable, and trustworthy.
While the future vision for Good Day Studios is to also provide room and amenities for artists who work on a larger scale and musicians, the spring season shared studio space is ideal for visual artists, writers, and other folks who can work in a shared space to benefit from joining a studio that helps support their creative work and visions!
Along with our shared studio work space, over the next three months, we are aiming to host two events per month, and are hoping to work with the resident artists to make this happen, should they be interested in hosting workshops, meetings or other gatherings for one of those events. At the same time, there is no commitment for resident artists to partake in the events, just to have a willingness to share the space when they happen (for which we will have a weeks notice minimum as to not interrupt personal work time).
If you missed it last week, you can get all the details about what to expect as a resident artist in my last share here.
a few reasons why being part of the spring season of good day studios may be right for you:
You simply need a place to go tackle your creative work that gets you out of the house, allowing you to see other humans, and providing a bit more structure to your schedule
You lack a spot to be able to do your work without interruption from those you live with and/or all the nagging chores that you really could be doing instead of your art
You want to be part of the start of a bigger vision to create a comprehensive multidisciplinary arts hub for our community here in Humboldt County
You are working on a budget and want to try out the studio space experience without a huge financial and time commitment
You need a spot to go work at random times of the day—like you create best at 1 a.m. but your honey needs absolute quiet and darkness during that time, or maybe you love to get out of the house to work first thing in the morning but nowhere is open for you to do so
You don’t need a ton of space to do your work, but you are sick of having to take out and put away your materials every time you want to work on a new piece because your work space is also doubling as your kitchen table—and thus you haven’t touched your work in months
You’ve been seeking connection with other creative beings in a meaningful way and the random event here and there isn’t cutting it
Sounds like you? We want to hear from you! If you are interested, please reach out to hello@gooddayhumboldt.com about how you can join us for the spring season at Good Day Studios!
